The LOLIPOP module was featured at OFC 2025, showcasing the project’s innovative work to an international audience.
🚀 The module, assembled by PHIX Photonics Assembly as part of the LOLIPOP Project, is built on a lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) platform — known for its high electro-optic coefficient, making it ideal for low-power, high-speed datacom applications.
✨ The design brings together the strengths of several key partners:
🔹 A TFLN-based LNOI chip from CSEM
🔹 Wirebonding to a PCB from imec
🔹 Hybrid integration with a SiN spot size converter chip from LioniX International
📶 Key specs include:
✔️ 5 high-speed modulators at 1550 nm
✔️ Over 40 GHz sideband modulation frequencies
✔️ Low optical losses through smart integration
The photos below, taken at the event, show the module in action — with Johan from imec and Robert from LioniX also pictured.
